China`s tire production increased 25% year on year to 74.16 million units in May, up 1.6% compared with that of April, according to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

During the period from January to May, the country`s tire production reached 312.3 million units, 31% more than a year earlier.

In the first five months, China`s synthetic rubber production increased 21% year on year to 1.26 million tons. In May, the country produced 275,000 tons of synthetic rubber, up 34% compared with the corresponding period of last year.

China`s General Administration of Customs reported late last year that the country exported 240 million new pneumatic rubber tires in the first ten months of 2009, 9.6% less than in the same period of 2008. The export value of the tires plummeted 10.5% year on year to US$6.2 billion, and the average price for one tire was US$25.4, down 1% year on year.
